Pizzeria Pronto Questions & Answers

Pizzeria Pronto Questions

Since its release, the Pizzeria Pronto has had an overwhelmingly positive reception. At the same time we've also received a lot of great questions about the oven, both from oven owners and from people interested in buying one themselves. We've been keeping track of all the questions asked, and today we've gathered our most popular Pizzeria Pronto questions and are sharing our answers.

Cooking Pizza on Your Pizzeria Pronto

How long does it take to cook a pizza?

Perhaps the most popular two questions we've had are how long it takes to cook a pizza, and how long the oven takes to preheat. The Pizzeria Pronto preheats in 10 minutes and cooks a thin crust pizza in only 5 minutes. Usually these questions are followed by: “Can I cook a frozen pizza?” Frozen pizzas do just fine in the Pronto. We recommend using a thin-crust frozen pizza which usually cooks in 5-7 minutes. When using a thicker frozen crust, preheat and cook the pizza according to the instructions on the box. Typically these instructions ask that you preheat your oven to around 425-475°F and cook your pizza in 12-18 minutes. These temperatures are best achieved by turning the oven’s burner dial down to just above the “low” position.

One pound propane tank adapter

What does the oven run on?

Currently the Pizzeria Pronto runs on propane, using either a 1 lb. or 20 lb. tank. If you’re using a 20 lb. propane tank, your oven will be ready to cook after taking it out the box and assembling it. If you’re looking for a little more portability with a one pound tank, you’ll need to purchase an adapter. There is a natural gas conversion kit in development for those of you who have natural gas connections on your patio.

How long does the oven run for on each propane tank?

Great question! We've put our ovens through their paces and found that the 1 lb. tanks last anywhere from 2 to 2.5 hours, which translates to 10-15 pizzas. The larger 20 lb. propane tanks (the most common size for your average gas barbecue) will cook for extended periods of time. Total operation time from a single 20 lb. tank will vary based on frequency of use.

What else can it cook?

Well, theoretically speaking you can cook any food you can fit into the Pizzeria Pronto. Using a shallow cast iron pan and a splatter screen to keep everything in the pan, we’ve cooked steaks and pork chops with great success. We’re developing an accessory that increases the height of the oven, to accommodate larger roasts and loaves of bread. Another item you’ll see down the road is the wok adapter kit. The kit will allow you to use a specially designed wok to cook stir fry, chow mein, pad thai, or any other Asian dish you’d like.

What comes with the oven?

The oven comes standard with the oven base, hood, reflector, and set of baking stones. The appliance manual includes operating instructions as well as a pizza dough recipe and important safety information. It’s highly recommended to purchase a pizza peel to be able to easily transfer a pizza into your hot oven.

Hi Rob,

We’re happy to hear about your success making the beloved Neapolitan pizza! As for the bread oven, our developers are still hard at work and we do not have an anticipated release date for it yet. Please check back with us to see our ever-expanding line of accessories!

Hi,
I’m a pizzaholic. My addiction started as I spent a couple of years in Naples, Italy, living on a regular diet of real wood fired pizza. I got hooked! For years since leaving Naples to live here in the States , I have had to live with withdrawals , infrequently getting a brick oven wood fired fix, but most of the time settling for “American Pie”. Then Pizzacraft saved the day! Several weeks ago I got a Pizzaque at a steal away price at Home Depot, added a leg kit and the stainless steel wood smoker kit from Amazon. This thing is amazing!!! With this oven, the right ingredients, and a little practice I can authentically recreate a delicious Neapolitan pizza! Now I can live with my addiction. Thanks Pizzacraft.
So, you mentioned here in this blog that you would soon be adding an attachment to the Pizza Pronto/Pizzaque that would allow baking bread and roasting meat etc, by raising the height of the dome. Is it yet available?? I enjoy baking artisan breads but cranking up a domestic kitchen oven in the summer just heats the house too much. I would like to move the baking outside, I’m sure with a little sheet metal I can “hack” something that will work, but I think I would rather get something better engineered from the brilliant folks that dreamed up this fabulous machine. Can you help me turn my Pizzaque into a part time bread oven? I would so appreciate it.
Thanks so much,
Rob Robinson

Hi Rich,

The Pizzeria Pronto is the deluxe pizza oven while the PizzaQue is the basic model. The Pizzeria Pronto has a heat containing visor and stainless steel reflection plate, resulting in a 20% decrease in cooking time. The Pizzeria Pronto rain cap (included) also holds a 1 lb. propane tank when inverted.
